I was born in Farmington, CT three months shy of the 80s. I share a birthday (and common thread) to a few notable people: Caravaggio (master of chiaroscuro), Hilary Duff (marketability), Bam Margera (wild), Dita von Teese (provocative) and Mira Sorvino (legs). I am fluid in the art of creative solutions, which always comes in handy on set. When I was five, my parents enticed me and my older brother to pick up our yard by offering ten cents a stick. My older brother gathered an impressive pile but the financial reward was mine; I had broken all of my sticks into multiple pieces. Brilliant. With my swindled money, I bought a pogo ball and a polaroid camera which I used to take this photograph of my brother (I could easily have turned his hockey stick into 70 cents).
My eye is trained as an anthropologist and spatial sociologist. Before photography, it was my job to observe and analyze how people live, work and play in space and then interpret the findings into meaningful physical solutions. Essentially, I carefully composed people in space. With photography, I’ve taken the next logical step to create environments that evoke emotion and tell a story.
